Henry Moore’s Sailing Education Pages
Welcome to my sailing education pages.
Let me introduce myself: I am
Henry Moore of
My philosophy in
education is very simple: I believe that
learning is a life-long process. This is
true for both my students and my self.
My goal as a teacher is to provide an environment in which each
individual can learn and develop. As a
teacher, I will strive to be on a journey of life-long learning through
teaching. I want an environment in which
individuals can learn through modeling, inquiry, cooperative and independent
work, and hands-on discovery. People
should always be pushed to use their imagination. Different people learn in different ways,
that is why I feel that it is important to integrate various ways of learning,
incorporating the multiple intelligences.
I believe that people should enjoy learning and have fun while doing so.
In these pages, I hope
to present two items:
O
A description of a one-day seminar,
Race Management 101, that I will be offering on a periodic basis open to any
one that is interested in serving on race committees. This seminar will be for people with little
or no experience in race management and would like to get their feet wet. This seminar will be taught at Davis Island
Yacht Club and the announcement of the course would be through the club’s Log,
Southwinds Magazine, the US Sailing website,
and mailings to other nearby yacht clubs and sailing organizations. It would be a precursor to the US Sailing’s
seminar, Basic Race Management, which is designed to educate potential
certified race officers.
O
A brief description of the protest
process. I hope to demystify the protest
process in order to reduce the intimidation aspect of either protesting or
being protested.
On these pages, I will
also be offering some links to various resources that should assist in these
two pursuits.
